In these concerts from March 2016, Michael Tilson Thomas leads Sibelius’s Second Symphony, a brief work by Stravinsky, and Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto with Emanuel Ax as soloist. You can hear more from both performers below, in Ax’s self-deprecating interview about the fear that grips him at the beginning of the work and Tilson Thomas as he describes the intricacies of Sibelius and Stravinsky. Also on the bill: from 2014, Jaap van Zweden leads the CSO in orchestral excerpts from Britten’s Peter Grimes.
