Sir András Schiff has long been acclaimed for his performances of the works of Classical-era composers, and beginning this year, he embarks on a multi-season exploration of the last three sonatas by Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert.
For his Symphony Center Presents Piano Series recital on March 8, Schiff has programmed Beethoven’s Sonata No. 30, Haydn’s Sonata in C Major, Mozart’s Sonata in C Major, K. 545, and Schubert’s Sonata in C Minor. During the 2015/16 season, he will complete his survey with two recitals at Symphony Center: Nov. 1 and Feb. 14, 2016.
Meanwhile, the Guardian of London recruited Schiff to record a six-part series of lectures on Beethoven’s last three sonatas. To hear the complete series, click here.
