Susanna Mälkki returns to Orchestra Hall to lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra through a diverse program that features Gil Shaham and Robert Chen. The program opens with Debussy’s first Image for Orchestra, which the CSO premiered in 1914, and is followed by Bartók’s second Violin Concerto, skillfully performed by Gil Shaham. The program closes with Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade, featuring CSO Concertmaster, Rober Chen, on violin. Included as a bonus is . . .but all shall be well, Op. 10, a CSO premiere from 2013.
