Why did you choose your instrument?

When I was 4 years old, my mother, who was a kindergarten teacher, took me to a big music store in Ginza, Tokyo. While she was searching for songbooks for her pupils, I explored the store by myself. At the music instrument section, I found a tiny violin for kids in the showcase. I showed the cute violin to my mother and said, “I want this!”

What works are you most looking forward to performing this season?

Schubert’s symphonies with Maestro Muti. I love Schubert. His beautiful music tells us about his endearing personality. Also, Shostakovich’s Seventh Symphony in May. This “historical document” is not performed very often, and I’m so excited to play this symphony with the CSO for the first time.
