After its concert in Paris, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra traveled to Hamburg, Germany, for two concerts at the state-of-the-art Elbphilharmonie, as part of the hall’s opening-week festivities. The CSO has the honor of being the first foreign-based orchestra to perform in the new hall. The concert sold out months in advance, and 600 guest dignitaries from around Germany traveled to Hamburg to hear the CSO and Muti. Germany’s consul general in Chicago, Herbert Quelle, flew in as well.
