Tenth music director Riccardo Muti—“the greatest Verdi conductor of our time,” according to the Chicago Tribune—opens this program leading the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the composer’s Overture to I vespri siciliani. Muti completes the program with the multiple Grammy Award–winning CSO Resound recording of Verdi’s Requiem, featuring the Chicago Symphony Chorus.
