This week,  Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra through Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 in D Major. And then, from a 1970 London recording, Sir Georg Solti leads Mahler’s Songs of Wayfarer and songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn featuring mezzo-soprano Yvonne Minton, who appeared in performance and on recording with the Orchestra on numerous occasions in the 1970s and early 1980s. On December 4, 2018, we celebrate Yvonne Minton’s eightieth birthday.
