For its annual Noche Navideña celebration, the CSO Latino Alliance welcomed CSO musicians Youming Chen and Robert Kassinger to a festive event Dec. 14 in Symphony Center’s Grainger Ballroom.

All was merry and bright as more than 200 guests and members of the Latino Alliance enjoyed yuletide music, along with refreshments and good tidings. Before the Q&A session, guests were serenaded by a string quartet from the Civic Orchestra. Then Latino Alliance chair Ramiro J. Atristaín-Carrión moderated a discussion with Chen and Kassinger, who discussed the CSO’s upcoming Asia tour as well as their own music backgrounds. Afterward, the Deerfield High School Choraliers offered classical twists on holiday carols and seasonal songs, including ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

As the carolers strolled off into the hall, guests took their seats for the first night of “Merry, Merry Chicago!,” the CSO’s annual holiday revue, this year conducted by Michael Krajewski and featuring vocalist Storm Large of Pink Martini fame.
