Pianist Jorge Federico Osorio plays the rarely heard Piano Concerto by Carlos Chávez, a work of Mexican dance rhythms and bold drama. An overture by Dvořák that’s another rarity starts the concert, which closes with a triumphant conclusion in the spectacular Ravel orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures From an Exhibition. Miguel Harth-Bedoya conducts each piece, as well as the bonus work featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Ernest Bloch’s Schelemo from a recording on CSO Resound.
